NEVC celebrates Homecoming

The Northeast Vernon County High School 2010-'11 Homecoming Royalty are: Back row, left to right, Spencer Hoagland, Jordan Moyer, Jacob Bell and Tanner Stutzman; front row, Brooklyn Foreman and Haedyn Chism.

There were a lot of silver spangles in the air as Jordan Moyer, a junior at Northeast Vernon County, was crowned queen of the 2010-'11 Homecoming celebration; and Jacob Bell, also a junior, was crowned king.

They were crowned by retiring royalty, Crystal Bogardus and Grant Davis.

Carrying the ball for the Homecoming Court were Spencer Hoagland and escort, Tanner Stutzman. Crown bearers were Brooklyn Foreman and Haedyn Chism. Emcee for the evening was Taylor Ast. Other candidates in the NEVC Homecoming Court were Tiffany Scheer and Bretton Ast, freshmen; Shelby Wilkins and Lawton Middleton, sophomores; and Courtney Greer and Sam Jones, seniors.

The Lady Knights played a rousing basketball game before the coronation, but were unable to overtake their opponents, the Calhoon Eagles. Coaches for the girls is Brian Sprouse and Ruth Gerster. They lost by a score of 48 to 55.

The Knights varsity contest was a fast-paced ballgame with a score of 59 to 77 in favor of the Knights.

A performance was also given by the Knights Cheer and Dance team composed of Taylor Ast, Tesla Austin, Spencer Hoagland, Abigale McCubbin, Jordan Moyer, Payton Hays, Shelby Wilkins, Kyleigh Williams-Maus, Abigail Gilpin, Tiffany Scheer, Coach, Jill Robertson, Mascot, Tucker Unruh, and Manager, Courtney Greer.

Even though the homecoming had been canceled twice before due to the weather, there was a rousing crowd of NEVC fans in attendance.
