12 Greyhounds named KJCCC All-Academic

FORT SCOTT, Kan. -- The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference recently released its Fall All-Academic selections for football and volleyball. Fifteen Fort Scott Community College athletes were named to the teams.

Football saw 12 players honored: Quin Bruce, Dallas Buck, Garret Ericson, Shane Hammer, Jeff Johnson, Sam Patton, Sam Quilice, Kevin Richard, Dillon Roberts, Arthur Rucker, David Shank and Brenton Smith.

Three volleyball players were also honored: Paige Clinton, Rachael Wilmes and Heather Greer.

The honors received by these players continues a strong academic reputation for FSCC athletic programs. For the 2009-10 school year, Fort Scott Community College had three teams lead their sport in team grade-point average. The baseball team had a cumulative GPA of 3.45. Men's basketball had a GPA of 3.00 and was the only KJCCC men's program to have a 3-point average, although Colby had a 2.98. The women's outdoor track program had a 3.63 GPA.
