Ena Mae Forkner, 90, Joplin, Mo., formerly of Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Freeman Health System West, Joplin, Mo., following an illness of several months. She was born Feb. 7, 1921, in Nevada, to Robert Lee Chrisenbery and Mina Lee Shaw Chrisenbery. She married Harlan Herbert Forkner on Aug. 13, 1939, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1991.

Ena was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1939. She lived in Nevada nearly all of her life. She spent most of her life helping her husband farm. Ena was known for her quilting and gardening. She was a member of the Community Christian Church in Nevada.

Survivors include two children, Harlan Forkner and his wife, Independence, Mo., and Elsie Scribner, Joplin, Mo.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Imogene Nall, Belton, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Roger and Gary; three grandsons, Billie Forkner, Andrew Caputo and Alex Lown; three brothers, Richard Chrisenbery, Kenneth Chrisenbery and Robert Chrisenbery; and two sisters, Edith Pettibon and Nellie Fay Broughton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 11, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Harlan Lee Forkner officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 10-11 a.m., Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
