The Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross in Nevada will be hosting a free seminar on Automated External Defibrillators on Thursday, March 24, 2:30-3:30 p.m., at the Vernon County Senior Center., 301 N. Main St., Nevada.

According to the Red Cross, cardiac arrest, every minute defibrillation is delayed, the chance of survival decreases by 10 percent. Defibrillation within three minutes increases the chance of survival by 70 percent . Local EMS responders typically cannot respond that quickly, a Red Cross press release said.

It is well recognized that AED's save lives and in many places Federal and State Good Samaritan laws protect you from liability when AED's are used is a good faith effort to save a person from death.

During Thursday's seminar, Scott Barnes of Cardiac Science will answer questions and demostrate how AEDs are saving lives.
