Local students earn honors at state

Nine students of the Nevada Regional Technical Center Chapter of Missouri Health Occupation Students of America joined others at the annual state leadership conference held March 25, at Four Rivers Career Center in Washington, Mo.

Three of the students who competed received medals in those events and qualified to compete at HOSA's National Leadership Conference June 22-25, in Anaheim, Calif.

Local students who received awards at the state level were: Torrie Butterfield, third place, Job Seeking Skills; Christina Gilman, first place, Nurse Assisting Skills; and Rusty Miller, first place: Personal Care.

The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore, helping the students to meet the needs of the healthcare community.

Mary Ann Wilson is the NRTC HOSA advisor and Health Sciences Instructor.
