Christopher "Clay" Charles

Clay Charles, 37, of Richards, Mo., passed away as a result of an accident on Saturday, April 30, 2011. He was born on Dec. 22, 1973, in Nevada. He married Lisa R. Stroud on Aug. 25, 1995, in Nevada, and she survives.

Clay grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1992. He has worked as a welder in commercial construction for the past nine years. He loved hunting and fishing and also had a love for horses and cars.

Survivors in addition to his wife are his children, Nathan Stroud, Anthony Charles, Makayla Charles and Torie Charles; his parents Joseph and Georgia Charles of Richards, Mo., and Dan and Brenda Carney of Collins, Mo.; three sisters,Tami Smith of Richards, Mo., Niki Carney of Collins, Mo. and Becky Moody of Harrisonville, Mo.; grandmothers, Karlene Phillips, of Nevada and Mary Ellen Carney of Harrisonville, Mo.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, with the Rev. Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Balltown Cemetery, Horton, Mo. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 3.
