Clay grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1992. He has worked as a welder in commercial construction for the past nine years. He loved hunting and fishing and also had a love for horses and cars.
Survivors in addition to his wife are his children, Nathan Stroud, Anthony Charles, Makayla Charles and Torie Charles; his parents Joseph and Georgia Charles of Richards, Mo., and Dan and Brenda Carney of Collins, Mo.; three sisters,Tami Smith of Richards, Mo., Niki Carney of Collins, Mo. and Becky Moody of Harrisonville, Mo.; grandmothers, Karlene Phillips, of Nevada and Mary Ellen Carney of Harrisonville, Mo.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, with the Rev. Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Balltown Cemetery, Horton, Mo. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 3.
