Melissa Anne Allman, 29, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 26, 1981, in Independence, Mo., to Carroll Richard Higgins and Sharon Lea King Higgins. She married Jason Wayne Allman on Nov. 8, 2001, in Alaska.

Melissa was born and raised in the Kansas City area. She came to Vernon County in 1997 for a time, but lived most of her adult life in Springfield, Mo. She loved extreme sports of all kinds. She also loved to dance and scrapbook. Melissa was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Nevada.

Survivors include one son, Gavin Taylor Wayne Allman, Nevada; one daughter, Alea Mary Anne Allman, Nevada; her mother, Sharon Crews, Nevada; her father, Richard Higgins and his wife, Ginger, Barlow, Ky.; maternal grandmother, Mary King, Nevada; paternal grandparents, Meryl Keith and Janet S. Higgins, Oak Grove, Mo.; four brothers, Patrick Crews and Matthew Crews, both of Nevada, Austin Higgins, Barlow, Ky., and Adam Higgins, Kansas City, Mo.; and two sisters, McKenzie Crews, Nevada, and Asiah Abernathy, Barlow, Ky.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Elder Burris Rader of Community of Christ Church officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home, and the family receives friends at the funeral home Monday, between 6 and 8 p.m..

Memorials may be given to the Community of Christ Church, Nevada, in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
