Library kicks off summer reading program

Friday, June 3, 2011

Nationally known lecturer and photographer Randy Nadler informs more than 80 kids and numerous parents and grandparents of the rules kids must follow during his presentation at the kick off of the Nevada Public Library's summer reading program held Wednesday at the Franklin P. Norman City/County Community Center. Nadler is from the Kansas City area and has traveled the world for more than 30 years gathering information and taking photographs of the places students study so he can teach kids about the cultures, wildlife and other countries of the world. "I'm here to have fun and teach our students as much as I can," Nadler said. Nadler uses state-of-the-art technology to deliver a very educational cultural arts presentation to students in Missouri and Kansas. His topic while in Nevada was the continent of South America; but in the past he has given presentations about Australia, China, Italy, Egypt and many other places. Summer reading sessions will be held throughout the summer at the Community Center on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. For more information about the summer reading program, call (417) 448-2770.
