Fern Attebery

Fern Attebery, 89, Nevada, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, following a brief illness. She was born June 19, 1922, in Stillwater, Okla., to Frank Ellis and Marie Gambril Ellis. She married Vincil M. Attebery on Aug. 27, 1940, in Rockville, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2000.

Fern came to Nevada at the age of 5. She attended Union School north of Nevada. Fern cared for children in her home for many years. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ, Nevada. She also was a volunteer for "We Care" at the Church of Christ for 18 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Venita Hynden and her husband, Charles, Port Ludlow, Wash., and Velma Clark and her husband, Keith, Nevada; eight grandchildren, Stephen Hynden, David Hynden, Brian Hynden and Christine Hynden, all of the state of Washington, Tammy Clark, Nevada, Kristie Niemeyer, state of Illinois, Curtis Clark, state of Arkansas, and Jared Clark, Bolivar, Mo.; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Altha Ream Marriott, Green Ridge, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Florence Johnston.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 9, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Danny Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
