Street overlay projects near completion

Friday, July 22, 2011

Workers for APAC construction of Springfield brave the 100-degree temperature to resurface streets in Nevada, Thursday afternoon. During the morning hours the crew worked on Walnut, Olive and Lee streets. Here they are at Sycamore Street where it intersects with Spring Street. Elizabeth and Maple streets are also scheduled to be done. Tom Hutchison, a construction specialist with the Nevada public works department, said that they are "hoping to wrap this up" today. The end of this year's resurfacing will mean that 16 blocks of city streets have been completed. The city crews will continue to seal cracks, slurry seal city roads and prepare several blocks of streets for next year's resurfacing project. Pedestrians and motorists in the areas affected are urged to use caution and watch for construction vehicles and workers.
