Nevada Daily Mail and Fort Scott Tribune to host football Pigskin Pick'em contest

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

With the beginning of the local football season nearing and the recent NFL lockout coming to an end, many readers are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to tune in to the upcoming games and cheer for their favorite teams. "Now, you can take that enthusiasm online and maybe come out a winner yourself," said Sarah Haney, online coordinator.

The Nevada Daily Mail and Fort Scott Tribune are hosting an online contest for both professional and local football seasons. To enter, register online at nevadadailymail.com or fstribune.com under the "Contests" tab. Upon registering, participants get the chance each week to choose which team they believe will win the upcoming game. At the end of each week, a winner will be drawn from those who picked the correct winning team and they will win the weekly prize offered. At the end of the season, a grand prize winner will be drawn.

"You don't have to be an expert on football to play. All you have to do is sign up and make your picks; anyone could win," said publisher Julie Simpson.

Weekly local prizes include a free appetizer or lunch special courtesy of Backroads Steakhouse, Nevada, and an oil change or other service courtesy of Nevada Auto Mall. End-of-season local grand prizes include a dinner for four, plus appetizer (up to $15) courtesy of Backroads Steakhouse, and a 32-inch HD flat screen television courtesy of Jim's Appliance and Repair, Nevada.

Weekly prizes for the professional contest will be an NFL Fathead of the winner's choice, with the end of season grand prize being two free tickets to Hawaii.
