Robert Charles Baer, 46, of Schell City, Mo., the son of Robert John and Judith Anne (Bowman) Baer was born March 22, 1965, in Muscatine, Iowa, and passed from this life Friday, Aug. 19, at St. Johns Regional Health Center in Springfield, Mo.

Robert attended school in Iowa and graduated from West Branch High School in 1983. About a year later, he, along with his family moved to the Nevada, Mo., area. It was while living in this area that he met and married Shellie Peace. They became the parents of three children. Through the years Robert lived in Arkansas, Missouri, and Iowa, but in the early 1990s, he made Missouri his permanent home. He worked as a self-employed mechanic and farm hand and was employed by Dirt Works of Walker, Young's in Nevada, and Schell City Truck and Tractor. His hobbies included a love of animals and the outdoors, a bit of bird hunting, a lot of fishing, but mostly he loved building trucks and running them through the mud.

Survivors include his two sons, Robert James Baer and Ashley of Harwood, Mo., and Joel David Baer also of Harwood, Mo.; one daughter, Darci Anne Baer of Lufkin, Texas; his mother and stepfather, Judith and Bill Michener of Red Oak, Texas; one brother, Richard James Baer of Bentonville, Ark.; and one grandson, Paxton Lane Baer. Robert was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Ronald John Baer.

Funeral services for Robert Charles Baer were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 22, at the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, with the Rev. Dan Fagala officiating. Pallbearers were Robert J. Baer, Joel Baer, Richard Baer, Kyle Begley, Tim Bailey and Rick Reasoner. Interment was in the Lefler Cemetery in Harwood.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Baer were entrusted to the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, Schell City.
