Ms. Howrey was born and raised in Vernon County and spent most all of her life here. She worked for a time at the Nevada State Hospital, but was primarily a homemaker. Sallie loved to play bingo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada.
Survivors include two daughters, Sallie Howrey, Clinton, Mo., and Debbie Swait, Nevada; two grandchildren, Joshua Swait and Hannah Swait, both of Nevada; two great-grandchildren, Alianna Williams, Springfield, Mo., and Cohen Swait, Nevada; and one sister, Polly Thomas, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Belcher.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada with Steve Russ officiating.
