Dr. Elmer C. Post

Dr. Elmer C. Post, 87, Nevada, passed away on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at his residence. He was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Moundville, Mo., to Eilt "Ed" Post and Anna Alvina "Winnie" Kuhlman Post. He was married on June 18, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo., to Joyce Emma Newcomb and she survives of the home.

Dr. Post was raised in Moundville and attended the Carl School near Moundville and later taught school there for a year. He graduated from Nevada High School in the class of 1941, and attended Missouri State Teachers College, Springfield, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1945 to 1947. He attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Mo., where he graduated in 1949. He began Post Chiropractic in Nevada in 1949 and continued practicing for 54 years until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Nevada, the American Chiropractic Association, the Missouri State Chiropractic Association, the Cleveland Chiropractic Alumni Association, and Osage Masonic Lodge No. 303. He was a past member of the Nevada Rotary Club, Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine, and the Nevada Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to his wife Joyce, survivors include six children, Dr. Kay Carver and her husband, Dr. Gary Carver, Kansas City, Mo., Janet Erwin and her husband, Bill, Nevada, Debra Anne Zoglmann and her husband, Steve, Nevada, Dr. Daniel Post and his wife, Cathy, Oklahoma City, Okla., Don Post and his wife, Tina, Wheatland, Mo., and Nancy Jeffries, and her husband, Bill, Nevada; 15 grandchildren, Krista Carver, Kimberly Carver, Brett Erwin, Zach Erwin, Quent Erwin, Jay Post, Lindsey Post, Cassie Post Drake, Kael Zoglmann, Emily Zoglmann Garcia, Shawn Zoglmann, Rebecca Jeffries, Joshua Jeffries, Teesha Bell, Doug Bell; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant son, Carl Edward Post; three sisters, Lena Martin, Anna Seitz and Lucille Pettibon Butner; and two brothers, John Post and August Post.

Dr. Post's passions included being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Joyce traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and Europe. Favorite activities included boating, camping, and raising ponies with his children. He was deeply dedicated to his profession and donated countless hours in the treatment of children.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Ralph Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Welborn Cemetery, Moundville, Mo.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 20, between 6:30 and 8 p.m.
