Albert Roy Van Dyke

Albert Roy Van Dyke, 86, Nevada, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the Medicalodge of Nevada, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 15, 1925, in Linn County, Mo., to Albert Van Dyke and Virginia Harding Van Dyke. He was married to Irene Britiham in 1979, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., and she preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2003.

Albert lived in Nevada his entire life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Albert worked for the Missouri-Kansas and Texas Railroad. He was a member of the Nevada American Legion Post No. 2, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2175, and the Nevada Eagles Lodge No. 3770.

Survivors include one daughter, Teena Lippincott, Nevada; five sisters, Lucy Garrett, Lowry City, Mo., Phyllis Stoddard, Nevada, Darlene Compton, Nevada, Lelia Shields, Florence, Ore., and Vickie Wolford, Yancalla, Ore.; and two brothers, Clifford Pettibon, Nevada, and Larry Pettibon, Gower, Mo.

Committal services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23, at the National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan., with Clifford Pettibon officiating. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post No. 1165 of Fort Scott. Friends may call now and until 9 a.m., Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
