In memory of two long-time educators and coaches Larry Hurst and Leland Day, two red maple trees were planted near the northwest entrance to Logan Field at Nevada High School, each marked with a plaque as well. The trees were dedicated in a ceremony Friday, and families were presented with plaques in a brief on-field ceremony just prior to Friday's 20-14 overtime victory over Clinton.

Nevada High School Athletic Director Kevin McKinley said "Both men made an indelable mark on the lives of the Nevada youth they taught and coached in addition to touching the faculty and staff they worked with."

Hurst, who died in 2009, was head footballcoach, 1987-'91 and head wrestling coach 1977-'88.
