Holiday light displays are setting the town aglow in Nevada each night.

Jim Raney says it takes him two weeks to put up this display, which extends outside the limits of this photo on both sides; Raney puts up the lights at his home and for an elderly woman who lives next door. He adds to his display each year.

Yeah, he puts in all that time and effort for the publics pleasure and then the neighbors call the police on him because of the music that goes with the lights. SCROOGES!!!!!!!!

Respecting your neighbors still should come into play. Not everyone may like the bright light that filters through their windows, or the music that plays at night. Plus some people don't celebrate/believe in Christmas so it may become offensive seeing and certainly hearing it every night for a month or more.

Yes respecting the neighbors is very important. But all they had to do is go ask them to turn the music down calling the police was alittle to much. This is one holiday that is awesome its the BIRTH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!! Yes I know some ppl dont believe in Jesus but thats on them!!!!

That's beautiful! Too bad there's a Scrooge involved. I'd hate to be the person who can't see the beauty of it and the effort it took to put them up, as well as the pleasure it delivers to the community who sees the display.

It might be your lord but it isn't ours, and who's birthday lasts over a month anyway? Us Jews (as was Jesus) just light some candles for 8 days we don't light up the neighborhood because it's not about showing off that's what fourth of July is for.

We drove by this house last night and enjoyed it, we rolled the window down and the music was not so loud as I would think to bother a neighbor, its once a year and I would think one could suffer through without starting what can be a year long fight with a neighbor.

REALLY REALLY people your lord my Lord. For Goodness sakes enjoy the flipping lights or not. But don't bring in your religious beliefs into someones hard work that berings joy to so many others.

As a child growing up once a year we drove around town and looked at Christmas lights, I always said when I have children I will do the same thing, and I must say in last couple of years there has not been much to look at, until we came across Mr. Rainey's house and just the look on my children's face was so heartwarming. Thank you so much Jim Rainey for decorating your yard for us to see at this special time of year!!

My children really love that house too, plus the one on North Main behind Trinity Luthern Church(hope I got the name right). On North Main they have a ferris wheel & the whole shabang. Same as opinionstated, it used to be a tradition in our family to spend an evening driving around looking at the Christmas lights but the last few years has been few & far between.

Hey enjoy or don't enjoy the lights but leave the freakin lord thing out of it. If you took a survey anyway you would find 95% of the people enjoy cruising around and looking at the lights that people put so much hard work into putting up each year. I should know I lived right across from the Raney's and enjoyed them every year I was there. So there!!!!!!!!!!

Hoss11 it is our belief and our opinion, but one day it will become "fact". Sadly when that day comes, the lost will recognize it, but it will be to late for them to ask forgiveness from the "myth" they have long laughed about. Whether or not we enjoyed the lights and music, won't make a difference in the end. Merry CHRISTmas!

Turn on the lights. The Gospel story, with its figure of Jesus of Nazareth, cannot be found before the Gospels. In Christian writings earlier than Mark, including almost all of the New Testament epistles, as well as in many writings from the second century, the object of Christian faith is never spoken of as a human man who had recently lived, taught, performed miracles, suffered and died at the hands of human authorities, or rose from a tomb outside Jerusalem. There is no sign in the epistles of Mary or Joseph, Judas or John the Baptist, no birth story, teaching or appointment of apostles by Jesus, no mention of holy places or sites of Jesus' career, not even the hill of Calvary or the empty tomb. This silence is so pervasive and so perplexing that attempted explanations for it have proven inadequate.

Some parallels between Horus and Jesus Christ:

1. Horus born of a virgin. Jesus born of a virgin.

2. The foster father of Horus was Seb or Seph. Jesus was fostered by Joseph.

3. Horus was of royal descent. Jesus was of royal descent.

4. Horus birth accompanied by three solar deities [star gazers] who followed by the morning star of Sirius bearing gifts. Jesus birth accompanied by three wise men [Zoroastrian star gazers] who followed by a star "in the east" bearing gifts.

5. The birth of Horus announced by angels. The birth of Jesus announced by angels.

6. Herut tried to murder the infant Horus. Herod slaughtered every first born in an attempt to kill Jesus the forthcoming messiah.

7. Horus is baptized at age 30 by Anup the Baptiser at a river. Jesus is baptized at age 30 by John the Baptist at a river.

8. Horus resists temptation by the evil Sut [Sut was to be the precursor for the Hebrew Satan] on a high mountain. Jesus resists temptation by Satan on a high mountain.

9. Horus had 12 followers. Jesus had 12 disciples.

10. Horus performed miracles like healing the sick and walking on water. Jesus performed miracles like healing the sick and walking on water.

11. Horus raised someone from the grave [his father Osiris] Jesus raised Lazarus [notice the name similarity] from the grave. Lazarus is short for Elasarus - the "us" on the end is romanized. Elasarus was derived from "El-Asar" which was the name given to Osiris.

12. Horus was buried and resurrected in the city of Anu. The place Bethany mentioned in John was a derivative of the words "Bet" and "Anu" which translates "the house of Anu". The 'y' on the end of bethany is interchangeable with the letter 'u'.

13. Horus was killed by crucifixtion. Jesus was crucified.

14. Horus was accompanied by two thieves at the crucifixtion. Jesus was crucified with two thieves.

15. Horus was buried in a tomb at Anu. Jesus was buried in a tomb located in Bethany [Bet-Anu].

16. Horus was resurrected after 3 days. Jesus was "said" to resurrected after over a period of three days.

17. The resurrection of Horus was announced by three women. The resurrection of Jesus was announced by three women.

18. Horus was given the titel KRST which means "anointed one" Jesus was given the title Christ [Christos] meaning "anointed one"
