Nevada girls swim at Joplin invite

JOPLIN -- The Nevada High School girls swim team finished fourth in the team standings at the Joplin Invitational at Missouri Southern on Friday.

Nevada sophomore Grace Reichard won the 50 freestyle, finishing in 27.6.

Megan Messick was fourth and Emma Denman was eighth in the event.

The team's returning standout, Reichard took second in the 100 butterfly.

Tayrin Schmitt took first in the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:28. Denman was ninth.

Nevada's team of Denman, Messick, Schmitt and Reichard won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:04.34.

Nevada was second in the 200 medley relay and sixth in the 400 free relay.

Schmitt was fourth in the 200 freestyle and Elizabeth Prewitt was 11th.

Prewitt finished fourth in the 400 free and Lize Smith was sixth.

Messick took third in the 100 back.

Rees Noble took ninth place in the 100 free.

The Tigers head to Springfield tonight.
