Mary had worked in the fabric department at J.C. Penney in Fort Scott and later supervised the fabric department at the Fort Scott Wal-Mart for several years. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, as well as collecting butterflies and stamps. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Iola and a past member of the Triple B Club of Bronson and the Rebecca Lodge.
Survivors include her seven children, Georgia Ramsey and husband, Frank, Mapleton, Kan., Candise Larson, Moran, Kan., Susan O'Nele and husband, Kevin, Aurora, Colo., Margaret Peters and husband, Robert, Meeker, Okla., Annette Jarvis, Mound Ridge, Kan., Mary Alice Abbott, Fort Scott, Kan., and Joseph Noel Likely and wife, Brenda, McPherson, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Alvin Martin, Walnut, Kan.; and a sister, Wilma Morton, of California. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Martin; and a sister, Margaret Martin.
Lloyd Houk will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. Burial will follow in the Bronson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Make a Wish Foundation and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel, 501 Pine, P.O. Box 93, Bronson, KS 66716.
