Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Four Vernon County residents were injured in the early morning hours of Christmas during a single vehicle accident on U.S. 71 Highway. A Missouri State Highway Patrol online crash report said the crash happened at 2 a.m., one mile South of Rich Hill, when a north bound Chevrolet Blazer, driven by 26-year-old Randy McDonald of Nevada, ran off the right side of the roadway.

McDonald apparently over-corrected and the vehicle overturned and came to rest facing south in the median. McDonald was taken to Bates County Memorial Hospital with a moderate injury.

The three passengers, 20-year-old Ashley Heathman of Nevada, 18-year-old Jerrold Miller of Walker and 18-year-old Nancy Rodarmel of Nevada, refused treatment for minor injuries.

In another incident 20-year-old Courtney Boggess suffered a minor injury on Dec. 26, in a one-vehicle crash that occurred on route T, 6 miles east of Lamar in Barton County. Boggess was treated at Barton County Memorial Hospital.

According to the Patrol, the wreck happened about 10:50 a.m., when the Chevrolet Boggess was driving failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the roadway and struck an embankment.
