Roy Lynn Thompson

On Jan. 6, 2012, at the age of 58, Roy passed from this earth at Via Christi Regional Hospital, Wichita, Kan., following a short illness.

Roy was born Sept. 8, 1953, in Webb City, Mo., to Eddie Louis and Dorothy Lavonna (Collins) Thompson. He attended Liberal High School, Liberal, Mo., and received his GED from Kansas in 1985.

On Nov. 21, 2004, Roy married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Browning, in Eureka Springs, Ark. They made their home in Nevada, Mo. Roy was employed by 3M Nevada for the past 17 years working as a warehouse operator. Roy enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and was an avid collector of John Wayne memorabilia.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frankie Lee Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, of the home; a daughter, Sherry Thompson Brown and husband, Daryl, Fort Scott, Kan.; sons, Travis Thompson, Fort Scott, Kan., Brent Thompson and wife, Chelsea, Nevada, Mo.; stepchildren, Charity Abts and husband, Shawn, Liberal, Mo., Thomas Dunham and wife, Britni, Nevada, Mo.; sister, Linda Thompson, Fort Scott, Kan.; brother, Darrel Thompson and wife, Carolyn, Liberal, Mo.; brother, Larry Thompson and wife, Rachel, Fort Scott, Kan.; sister, Sandra Petty-Lessley of Fort Scott, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 6-8 p.m. at Konantz Warden Chapel. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Konantz Warden Funeral Home Chapel, Lamar, Mo., with the Rev. C.K. Warden officiating. Interment will be in Liberal City Cemetery, Liberal, Mo. Pallbearers are Alex Lessley, Thomas Dunham, Shawn Abts, Kim Lee Saker, Tim Judy and Aaron Blystone. Honorary Pallbearers are Travis Thompson, Brent Thompson, Daryl Brown, Robert Maxwell Browning and Faunt Thomas Dickerson. Contributions suggested to Fort Scott Relay For Life.
