Hume girls improve to 16-2

WHEATLAND -- The Hume High School girls basketball team improved to 16-2 on the season with a dominating 71-24 blowout win over Wheatland on Friday night.

"It was a great team effort," Hume Coach Delanya Thompson said. "We played excellent, team ball. Everyone made a huge contribution to the game. We're playing better every game."

The Hornets led 23-9 after one period of play and extended the lead to 44-9 at the break, holding the hosts scoreless in the second quarter. Makena Thompson scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Emily Brooks scored 17, handed out seven assists and grabbed five steals. Two others reached double figures, as Kaitlee Metcalf scored 12 and Tori Sears added 11. Rounding out the scoring were Hannah Jacobs with nine and Abby Yarick with four.

The boys score was not made available to the Daily-Mail.

Hume will compete at the conference tourney this week.
