Donna Kay Beerbower

Donna Kay Beerbower, 67, a resident of Fort Scott, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. She was born Dec. 8, 1944, in Nevada, Mo., the daughter of Donald Elmor Lawson and Nola Merel Holsinger Lawson. She married Lowell William Beerbower on March 12, 1961, in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1994. Donna had been active with the Cub Scouts Pack No. 114. In her earlier years, she had served as Den Mother and later as Cub Master's secretary. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and doing crossword puzzles and especially spending quality time with her family.

Survivors include her six children, Troy Beerbower and wife, Kimberly, Fort Scott, Kan., David Beerbower and wife, Donna Jo, Fort Scott, Allen Beerbower and wife, Kim, Redfield, Kan., Gary Beerbower and wife, Angie, Fort Scott, Rhonda Tinkey and husband, Preston, Fort Scott, and Lowell W. "Bub" Beerbower II and Julie Carpenter, of Fort Scott. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Helms, Nevada; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Linda Metcalf; and a great-nephew, Cory Reynolds.

There was cremation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Private burial will take place at a later date in the Marmaton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Cub Scout Pack No. 114 and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
