Nevada police arrest DWI suspect

A 36-year-old Arma, Kan., man was arrested by Nevada, Mo., police about 8 a.m., July 2, for driving while intoxicated.

An officer responded to a citizen's report of a suspected drunk driver in the area of the 400 block of North Osage Boulevard in Nevada.

After a brief search, the officer located Ronnie L. Shadden's vehicle driving recklessly in a residential area. The officer stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Ashland and Washington streets, a news release said.

Investigating officers determined that the driver was under the influence and he was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and driving while revoked. Officers also determined that the driver was a DWI chronic offender due to several alcohol-related arrests and convictions. Records show the driver has had his driving privileges revoked in two states, the release said.

Shadden has been charged with one count of driving while intoxicated/chronic offender, a class B felony, one count of driving while revoked/persistent offender, a class D felony, and one count of first-degree trespassing, a class B misdemeanor in Vernon County Associate Circuit Court. He is currently being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $66,000 bond.
