The Nevada Red Sox AAA Legion team won their district tournament elimination game with Windsor Thursday afternoon with a score of 17-1, in a seven-inning run rule-shortened game in El Dorado Springs, setting them up for a rematch with Warrensburg in the first game in the championship round played at 6 p.m., which the Red Sox won 11-3 in nine innings.

The Red Sox lost to Warrensburg in their second round game Wednesday 11-9, putting Nevada into Thursday's elimination games.

"I was impressed -- playing two back-to-back ball games starting at 3:30," Red Sox coach Matt Ketterman said. "They were a couple of good wins,"

In the first game Ketterman said that Joe Lean from Weaubleau pitched the first four innings for the Red Sox against Harrisonville and Bubba Banes closed out the final three innings.

In the first of what will be a two-game championship series, Ketterman said that Cole Sanderson pitched all nine innings for the Red Sox.

"We led 11-1 going into the ninth inning, and they scored two runs in the ninth," he said.

Ketterman said that Lane Ketterman batted 3-5, with two doubles, Alex Payne was 3-4, Colton Selvy from Liberal was 2-4, Caleb Kauffman from Weaubleau went 2-5 and Austin O'Neal, Weaubleau, was 2-5 in the game with Warrensburg.

The final game of the double elimination championship against Warrensburg, undefeated in the tournament going into Thursday's game, will be played at 5 p.m., today.
