Power outage updated

Saturday, September 8, 2012

Strong winds from storms rolling through Bourbon

County on Friday afternoon knocked down more than 45 transmission poles and left thousands

of Westar Energy customers in the Fort Scott area without power.

As of 8:30 p.m. Friday, 4,122 customers in Bourbon County were without power.

Materials are being brought in and a worksite established. On Friday night, crews will raze

damaged structures. This will take until early Saturday morning, at which point the rebuilding

process will begin. Because of the extent of the damage, it could be as late as Sunday evening

before service is restored to all customers.
