WEBB CITY, Mo. -- The Nevada Tigers swim team competed in the Webb City Invitational Saturday.
Jesse Claypool finished second in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 59.42 seconds, while Andre Ziebachienko was fourth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.81and fifth in the 200 individual medley in 2:27.5. Ziebachienko, Dalton Eador, Morgan Hold and Claypool finished third in the medley relay.
"We competed very well at this meet," Tigers head coach Ryan Watts said. "We were a little short-handed due to illness and other activities, but the four we took were very competitive against some of the strongest competion we have seen. I was especially proud of the medley relay which dropped 5 seconds off their personal best to medal against schools much bigger and more experienced than us."
The Tiger swimmers are scheduled to compete Tuesday at Springfield Hillcrest.
"Everyone swam well, especially after one of the most physically grueling weeks of practice we have had yet," Watts said. "I was very excited for our teams performance this weekend and look to carry this momentum into Tuesday's meet at Springfield Hillcrest."
