SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Nevada High School boys' swim team put on yet another strong performance at the Hillcrest Invitation Tuesday at Hillcrest High School.
Andrei Ziabchenko posted two of the best individual performances for the Tigers on the day as he took third in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 5.27 seconds and the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:29.23. Ziabchenko was also a member of the Tigers' medley relay with Dalton Eador, Morgan Hold and Jesse Claypool which placed second with a time of 1:53.99.
Hold picked up another top-five individual showing for the Tigers as he tied for fourth with Eador in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.32. Hold also competed in the 100 breaststroke and finished with a time of 1:19.43, while Eador posted a time of 57 seconds in the 100 freestyle.
"We competed very well at this meet, on short rest," Tigers head coach Ryan Watts said. "The team continues to compete well and place amongst some of the largest and most experienced teams in southwest Missouri. Many of the larger Springfield school coaches are surprised by how competitive this small, first-year program is."
The Tigers are scheduled to be back in the pool on Friday, when they head back out on the road to compete in the Joplin Invitational.
