WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Members of the Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team competed in the Class 3, District 12 tournament Saturday.
The best showing of the day for the Lady Tigers came in the No. 1 doubles bracket. Jessica DeCocq and Lauren Baker defeated opponents from Warrensburg and Knob Noster in the first and second rounds before suffering a loss to Harrisonville in the semifinals and finishing fourth after a second loss to the Harrisonville team.
The No. 2 doubles team of Lize Smith and Megan Payne won the first set of their match against the Clinton Lady Cardinals, 6-3, only to lose the second set, 6-2, and the decisive third set in the tie-breaker, 7-2. "What a phenomenal job the girls did," Lady Tigers head coach Sam Short said. "Megan is just a freshman and is already playing so well."
Regan Kimbrough and Janell Hawks represented the Lady Tigers in the singles matches and suffered losses in two sets.
