On Oct. 18, the USDA Missouri Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Farm Loan Programs will conduct an open house-style meeting, 1-3 p.m., at the Nevada USDA Service Center, 100 W. Allison.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide producers with updates on current agency programs and to discuss the Hispanic and Women Farmer and Rancher claims process.
"If you, or someone you know, believes the USDA has improperly denied you farm loan benefits between 1981 and 2000 because you are hispanic or female, you may be eligible to apply for compensation and should attend the public meeting," a notice from the USDA said.
The claims period opened Sept. 24 and closes March 24, 2013.
Anyone with a disability who requires accommodations to attend or participate in the meeting should contact FSA Executive Director Travis Claypool by phone at (417) 667-8137, by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, or via Federal Relay Service at (866) 377-8642 by Oct. 15.
