Farm Service Agency to host open house Oct. 18

Thursday, October 11, 2012

On Oct. 18, the USDA Missouri Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Farm Loan Programs will conduct an open house-style meeting, 1-3 p.m., at the Nevada USDA Service Center, 100 W. Allison.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide producers with updates on current agency programs and to discuss the Hispanic and Women Farmer and Rancher claims process.

"If you, or someone you know, believes the USDA has improperly denied you farm loan benefits between 1981 and 2000 because you are hispanic or female, you may be eligible to apply for compensation and should attend the public meeting," a notice from the USDA said.

The claims period opened Sept. 24 and closes March 24, 2013.

Anyone with a disability who requires accommodations to attend or participate in the meeting should contact FSA Executive Director Travis Claypool by phone at (417) 667-8137, by e-mail at travis.claypool@mo.usda.gov, or via Federal Relay Service at (866) 377-8642 by Oct. 15.

Here goes more of our tax dollars...remember Shirley Sherrod? This all started several years ago, and everyone is lining up to get their free $50,000 from the USDA. Remember that there were less than 18,000 black farmers in the country when that lawsuit was filed, but 97,000 black "farmers" applied for the money? This has been another pet project of Obama...giving $50,000 chunks of tax payers' money to minorities without requiring documentation to PROVE anything!! Oh, yes, I forgot...we are just in front of an election and he needs the Hispanic and women's vote.
