PARSONS, Kan. -- The Cottey College Comets volleyball team added another victory to its record in a road match at Labette County Community College Friday night. The Comets did drop the second set of the night, but ultimately held on to take the victory by the final scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-13 and 26-24.
The Comets struggled with low hitting percentages once again throughout the entire match. Their best performance of the night in that category was in the fourth and final set, when they finished hitting at 26 percent. Individually, Alexis Self finished with the highest hitting percentage on the night for the Comets at 36 percent.
Lauren Johnson led the Comets with two aces on the night, while Self recorded a team-high 26 assists. Erica Phillips recorded a team-high five blocks and Morgan Wheatley finished with 26 digs.
The Comets were scheduled to be back in action on Monday, taking back to the road to take on Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. The Comets will close out the home portion of the 2012 regular season later this week with home matches against Northeast Oklahoma tomorrow and Longview Community College on Friday, Oct. 19, at Hinkhouse Center.
