Hume volleyball wins GVVC tournament

BUTLER, Mo. -- The Hume Lady Hornets volleyball team rode two strong performances on its way to winning the Golden Valley Vernon County Conference Tournament at Ballard High School.

In the semifinal match, the Lady Hornets took on Sheldon and though both sets were fairly close, ultimately came out on top by the final scores of 25-17 and 25-21. Hannah Jacobs led the Lady Hornets with seven serving points, four aces and 13 kills in the match, while Emily Brooks recorded a team-high 16 assists and Tori Sears had the team's only block.

In the championship match, the Lady Hornets came out after a three-hour wait and defeated the host Lady Bulldogs by the final scores of 25-17 and 25-11. Cheyenne Davidson recorded a team-high nine serving points, while Kaitlee Metcalf and Lacie Gooch each added two aces. Hannah Jacobs added a team-high 11 kills, while Emily Brooks recorded 11 assists and four players had a block.

With those victories, the Lady Hornets improved to 11-4 on the year.
