The 2012 MSHSAA softball All-Region teams have officially been announced.
On the Region 4 squad, two names are quite familiar to followers of Nevada Lady Tigers softball. Both selected to the first team, Mackenzie Pritchett and Christian Novak have found themselves among an elite list of the best players in this region of the state.
As the Lady Tigers second baseman, Pritchett -- a senior and four-year varsity player -- Pritchett had a fielding percentage of .887 with seven errors, 33 putouts and 22 assists, while hitting .488 with 41 hits, 15 RBIs and 22 runs scored in 95 plate appearances on the year. She was hit by two pitches and went a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases.
Novak -- also a senior and four-year varsity pitcher --finished the season with a 0.75 ERA with 93 hits, five home runs and 31 walks surroundered, while striking out 236 batters and hitting five in 160 1-3 innings. At the plate, she hit .488 with 39 hits, 18 RBIs, one home runs and three walks in 85 plate appearances.
As a team, the Lady Tigers finished the 2012 season with a 17-9 record and boasted a .321 combined batting average with 223 hits and 133 runs scored. The Lady Tigers outscored the opposition 133-67 and opposing hitters held just a .167 batting average.
The rest of the first-team All-Region 4 squad also included Grain Valley's Brooklynne Simbeck, Taylor Mays, Courtney Folk and Sydney Fry, Trenton's Scotlin Hurley and Maddie Hooyman, Cameron's Ashley Willis and Taylor Hamilton, Maryville's Baylee Scarbrough, Pleasant Hill's Paige Shifflett and Alex Burris, Smithville's Carmella Sportsman and Boonville's Addy Reardon.
