Alvin Otto Mohlfeld
Alvin Otto Mohlfeld, Nevada, 75, passed away at his residence on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012. He was born April 30, 1937, in Stanton County, Neb., to Otto Mohlfeld and Anna Marie Koehlmoos Mohlfeld. He was married July 8, 1961, in Wisner, Neb., to Eileen Wilhelm and she survives of the home.
Mr. Mohlfeld was born and raised in Nebraska and attended school there. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and then he continued his military career serving in both the Nebraska and Missouri National Guard until his retirement in 1999. Alvin moved to Vernon County, Mo., in 1984 and lived the remainder of his life here. He was a life-long farmer and also worked at the Nevada Habilitation Center, in Nevada, for 20 years retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Nevada American Legion Post No. 2 and was serving as Commander for the past three years. Alvin was a loving husband and a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his wife Eileen, survivors include three sons, Clark Mohlfeld and his wife, Connie, Wisner, Neb., Scott Mohlfeld and Cheri Milligan, Liberal, Mo., and Keith Mohlfeld and Lisa Jenkins, Columbus, Kan.; one daughter, Judy Evans and her husband, Darryl, Olathe, Kan.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Harvey Mohlfeld, Wayne, Neb.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Betty Henshaw.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Scott, Kan., with the Rev. Stephen C. Sweyko officiating. Interment will follow at National Cemetery, also in Fort Scott, with full military honors.
Friends may call now and until 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. The family shall also receive friends at the church in Fort Scott from 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, prior to the funeral service.
