Workers removed the roof from the Quick Dine building, at the intersection of Osage and Atlantic, on Nov. 10; and on Monday they were salvaging other materials before Dirk Scotten, who has the contract for the demolition, brings in equipment to knock down the rest of the building before hauling it away.
The restaurant was heavily damaged on Oct. 19, when a tractor-trailer loaded with soybeans crashed into the north side of the building while trying to avoid hitting a car that pulled away from a stop sign at a cross street in front of the truck, killing one occupant of the restaurant and injuring several others. One person died later from injuries suffered in the accident. Neither the truck driver nor the driver of the car were injured. There's no word so far on the future plans for the property.
