Warren wins high school coaching debut

DEKALB, Mo. -- Former Nevada Lady Tigers and Cottey College Comets basketball player Lacy (Leonard) Warren's basketball coaching career started Tuesday night with a win by the DeKalb High School Lady Tigers at Craig/Fairfax by a final score of 60-32.

Next on the schedule for the Lady Tigers is the PVI Tournament Nov. 26 through Dec. 1. Warren earned NJCAA All-America honors in 2005 and 2006 at Cottey before finishing her playing career with one season at University of St. Mary, in Leavenworth, Kan., and Benedictine University, Atchison, Kan.

After a year as a middle school teacher and high school assistant basketball coach at Atchison, she was appointed varsity basketball coach and assistant softball coach at DeKalb High School as well as seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade science teacher.
