Mrs. Thomas was employed at Wilson's Athletic Goods in Kansas City for 16 years. After the close of the Kansas City factory, she moved to Milo. Mrs. Thomas started to work at Nevada State School and Hospital on Oct. 1, 1972, retiring on June 30, 1987. She was a member of the Milo Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children, Betty Carolyn Shearer, Stover, Mo., Jack Allen Weatherman, Drexel, Mo., and Janice Elaine Thomas, Raymore, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn Dussault, Milwaukee, Wis., and Virginia Lauritzen, Northern California. She was preceded in death by her parents; both spouses; three grandchildren; one brother, Vernon E. Tanner; and one sister, Joyce Kohut.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Milo Cemetery, Milo, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 1-2 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made in her memory to the Milo Baptist Church or Hospice of St. Joseph Hospital in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
