Sheldon basketball splits with Golden City at home

SHELDON, Mo. -- The Sheldon Panthers and Lady Panthers split a non-league doubleheader against Golden City at Sheldon High School Tuesday night.

The Panthers won the boys game by a final score of 53-49, behind 20 points from Corey Baney and 19 from Reed Worsley. With the win, the Panthers improved to 3-0 on the season.

In the girls' game, things didn't go nearly as well for Sheldon as the Lady Eagles took the victory by a final score of 42-28. Destiny Shelton led the Lady Panthers with 12 points.

Next on the schedule for both of Sheldon's teams is Thursday night, when they head to Northeast Vernon County. Tipoff for the first of the three games scheduled that night is set for 5:30 p.m.
