"It's a really cute program," former Nevada Lady Tigers basketball player Kelly (Meyers) Ast, said at the conclusion of the Osage Prairie YMCA's basketball program for 3- to 5-year-old boys and girls.
"I like the way they run it like a practice," Ast said, adding that she thought it was well-organized.
And they get a basketball at the end of the program, Ast, whose 5-year-old son, Alex, was one of the players, said.
"It's a nice memento," she said.
"Alex asked for a basketball for Christmas," she added.
"Instead of a trophy, I like to give everyone a game ball to keep their interest up and engaged in the sport," Jeff Snyder, Osage Prairie YMCA CEO and program coach, said.
"It keeps them active and from sitting on the couch in the evening," Marie Snyder, Jeff's wife, said.
The Snyder's son Jett took part in the program.
