Donald L. Stark, 83, Nevada, passed away at his home on Dec. 31, 2012, following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 13, 1929, in Nevada, to Harry Gordon Stark and Ora Ethel Duke Stark. He married Maxine Putnam on June 10, 1951, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 1997. He married Patricia A. Scott on Feb. 10, 1999, and she survives of the home.

Don was raised in Nevada, and was a member of the high school class of 1945. He joined the service at the age of 17, prior to graduation and was with the Navy Sea Bees from 1946-'50. As a young boy he had worked at Stumps Shoe Store shining shoes. After the service, Don worked for Davisson Shoes in Nevada for a number of years and then for Mass Merchandising where he retired after working more than 30 years. Later he worked at Wal-Mart for a number of years. Don's memberships included the First Baptist Church, the United Methodist Church, and the Nevada BPO Elks Lodge No. 564.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Pat, are one daughter, Donna Allen and her husband, Terry, Rowlett, Texas; two sons, Dan Stark and his wife, Judy, Nevada, and Dave Stark, Moundville, Mo.; three stepchildren, Chris McCarty and her husband, Patrick, Nevada, Greg Scott and his wife, Missy, Hepler, Kan., and Barry Scott, Nevada; one sister, Janith Sullens and her husband, Dale, Branson, Mo.; his wheelchair companion, Mattie (his Boston Terrier); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Jan. 3, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Steve Russ officiating. Interment with military rights will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now until the hour of service and the family received friends from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2.
