JV boys' winning streak ends

Friday, January 4, 2013

Nevada Daily Mail

The Nevada High School junior varsity boys' basketball team has been hot through the middle portion of the season.

The JV Tigers currently hold a three-game winning streak that began with a 35-23 victory over Butler on Dec. 10. That night, Nevada never led until the final 2 minutes of the third quarter.

The Tigers followed that up with a dominant performance against Clinton in which Devion Leavell scored a team-high 15 points. The Tigers went on to pick up the victory by a final score of 63-56.

On Thursday night, the momentum came to a screeching halt when coach Neil Barnes' squad fell to Carthage by a final score of 56-34 thanks to a 23-0 run in the second half.

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, when they head back out on the road to face McDonald County.
