Mable Mowry Urner

Mable Mowry Urner, 86, Nevada, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Christian Health Care and Rehab in Nevada, following an illness of several months. She was born on Dec. 19, 1926, in Nevada, to Lewis Earl Mowry and Iva Pearl Tylar Mowry. On June 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to Ivan Simmons. Following his death in 1973, she married Lewis Urner on Dec. 5, 1981.

Mable was a member of the United Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women's organization until the past few years. She was a member of The Athenas and Retired Teachers of Missouri. Mable was employed as a secretary at Bryan School and in the Nevada school superintendent's office. She and Lewis enjoyed bus trips with groups seeing many areas of the United States. They also traveled to Switzerland, the Netherlands and Hawaii.

Mable is survived by her son, Tom Simmons and his wife, Jan, Pleasant, Hill, Mo.; two grandchildren, Chris Simmons and his wife, Kristy, Pleasant Hill and Robyn Simmons, Annandale, Va.; and two great-grandsons, Cole and Chase Simmons. Also surviving are stepchildren, George Urner and his wife, Marilyn, San Diego, Calif., Lewa Urner, Joplin, Donna Gorman and her husband, Dorman, and their son Kyle, Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Maudie Ramey; one sister-in-law, Sheryl Mowry and special friend, Sallie Steve, both of Nevada; and many nieces, nephews and their children. Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands; brothers, Earl and Stan Mowry; and sisters, Frances Zwiebel and Lorine Mayes.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 7, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Linda Pagel officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 1-2 p.m., Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
