EL DORADO SPRINGS -- The Nevada Middle School seventh grade boys' basketball team got its season under way with a strong showing against El Dorado Springs Middle School in the El Dorado Springs Tournament Thursday night.

Head coach Robert Miner's squad opened the tournament on a high note, defeating the hosting Bulldogs by a final score of 47-18. Zach Gardner led the offensive effort for Nevada with 20 points and was joined in double figures by Hunter Mason, who added 12 of his own.

With the win, Miner's squad moved on to face Warsaw in the tournament's second round on Friday.

In that contest, the Tigers picked right back up where they left off, putting forth another strong performance in a 44-10 victory. Gardner once again led the offensive effort for the Tigers in that contest as he finished with 19 points.

Next on the schedule for Nevada is today, when they take on Camdenton with the tournament title on the line.
