Sheldon boys, girls split at Appleton City

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

Nevada Daily Mail

APPLETON CITY, Mo. -- The Sheldon Panthers and Lady Panthers basketball teams were both in action at the Appleton City Tournament Monday night.

Under head coach Tyler Judd, the Panthers opened pool play against the Knights of Northeast Vernon County High School. Sheldon cruised through that contest, taking the victory by a final score of 55-20 behind 17 points from Taylor Belew to improve to 9-2 on the season.

Sheldon's girls weren't quite so lucky. Head coach Leon Lowe's squad took on top-seeded Montrose and never really got much going on the offensive side of the ball.

By the time all was said and done, the Lady Jays cruised to a 42-12 victory.

Sheldon's boys are scheduled to be back in action tomorrow, when they take on Appleton City, at 9 p.m.
