Mabel Claire Keeny Brown

Mabel Claire Keeny Brown, 94, formerly of Nevada, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Foxwood Springs, Raymore, Mo. She was born July 24, 1918, in Harwood, Mo., to Cecil Keeny and Grace Magann Keeny. On May 12, 1939, she was married to Roy F. Brown Jr. "Brownie" who preceded her in death on May 15, 1992.

Mabel and her husband were both graduates of Nevada High School. They were the owners of Brown Sign Service in Nevada for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Vernon County Historical Society and the United Methodist Church.

Mabel is survived by two sons, Donald R. Brown, Ballwin, Mo., and Lynn F. Brown and his wife, Kay, Waco, Texas; one daughter, Sue Ann Mische, Grandview, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Chris Brown, Lesley Larson, Dawn Brown, Misty Brown Worsham, Amy Mische Whorton, Lisa Mische Lawson, and Jennifer Mische; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one niece. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carroll K. Keeny, Kenneth A. Keeny, and Lynn C. Keeny; and one sister, Dorothy Keeny Gafke.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Linda Pagel officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
