Sheldon's basketball boys suffered a 61-53 setback in the opening round of the Osceola Invitational tournament Tuesday night.
Sheldon pulled away in the second quarter, only to see Weaubleau tie the game in the third. Sheldon then managed just five points in the final period.
That dropped Sheldon into Wednesday's consolation bracket game against Climax Springs, a 78-35 loser to the host school.
In the winners' bracket, Osceola and Weaubleau square off Thursday and Lakeland, a 59-36 winner over Appleton City, will meet Macks Creek, a 57-53 victor over Hermitage.
Sheldon matched points early with Weaubleau, trailing, 15-14, after 8 minutes.
The Panthers broke loose for 22 points in the second quarter, while holding their opponents to nine, to take a 36-24 halftime advantage.
But a 24-12 difference in the third period produced a 48-48 deadlock.
The eventual winners put together 13 points in the last quarter.
Reed Worsley finished with 16 points, all but four coming in the second half, to pace the Panthers. Taylor Belew and Corey Baney added 10 each, Zack Enochs had nine, and Micah Swanson eight.
Weaubleau finished with three players in double figures, with 14 points each.
Sheldon didn't help itself at the line, making just five of 16 free throws, while Weaubleau converted 10 of 14. The winners also had the edge from the three-point area, draining seven to Sheldon's four.
