The Nevada Tigers wrestling team won three duals Tuesday night at Butler, defeating the Bears, 54-6, Wentworth Military, 48-30 and El Dorado Springs, 42-30, at Butler High School.
Dayton Miller, Slade Stiles, Johnathan Ireland, Scott Swink and Colby Smith won matches against Butler wrestlers, while Miller, Stiles, Osburn, Ireland, Trey Pritchett and Sam Ellifrits won matches against Wentworth opponents. Miller, Stiles, Osburn, Ireland, Swink, Smith and Ellifrits won matches against El Dorado Springs opponents.
"The boys wrestled well. Very proud of them," Tigers head coach Devin White said. "They knew it was going to be a challenge to overcome the opens. They stepped up and did what they had to to come away with three team victories."
White said the highlight match of the evening was between Colby Smith and Gage Miller, El Dorado Springs, at 220 pounds. After a scoreless first period, Smith got the upper hand and pinned Miller during the third period.
The Nevada wrestlers are scheduled to be back in action on Saturday, when they compete in the Seneca Invitational and complete their regular-season schedule with a dual at Carl Junction next Tuesday evening and a Senior Night dual against Buffalo on Jan. 31.
