The Missouri State High School Baseball Coaches' Association has released its preseason rankings for the 2013 baseball season.
Head coach Danny Penn's Nevada Tigers made the cut, earning the No. 9 spot in this year's poll. This year's preseason poll comes on the heels of the Tigers' best season in program history in which Penn's squad broke the school record for wins and finished with an overall record of 16-9, beating the old school wins record by one.
Westminster Christian topped the preseason rankings in Class 4, followed by Lutheran South, Logan-Rogersville and St. Dominic. Festus rounded out the top five.
Cape Girardeau's Notre Dame High School was sixth, followed by Oak Grove, Sullivan, Nevada and St. Joseph-Lafayette rounded out the top 10. Others receiving votes were Pacific, Sikeston, Monett and Mount Vernon.
The Tigers are scheduled to open the 2013 season on the road, when they travel to Fort Scott on March 25. The first home game of the season for Penn's varsity squad is scheduled for March 27, when it hosts the Panthers of St. Mary's Colgan.
The first in-season rankings for 2013 are set to be released on March 29.
