Friend says there's nobody like him

Saturday, January 26, 2013

One of Seth Alexander's best friends, fellow Northeast Vernon County High School senior Jacob Maus, says he is a gifted student who will succeed in anything he tries because he combines his intellectual ability with a strong will.

"Seth is one of the best guys I know, real outgoing and always ready to make somebody laugh," said Jacob, who was a teammate of Seth's on the NEVC Knights' basketball and baseball teams before Seth lost both legs in a 2011 traffic accident.

"He is really good in academics," Jacob said. "His best sport was baseball and he would have gone somewhere, I'm pretty sure. He was a pitcher and played third base and center field. I think he was best at center field. "

Asked what he expects Seth to do in life, Jacob said, "Something great because he is determined and hardheaded.

"Whatever he sets his mind to, he is going to get done. He has adjusted good and was back on his feet really fast. I have never seen anyone get back on their feet so quick and be so determined to walk.

"I've known Seth pretty much forever and have been good friends for about eight years. There ain't nobody like him. He is his own person."
