George E. Dobson

George E. Dobson, 86, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Christian Health Care in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Lexington, Mo., to Monty L. Dobson and Margaret J. Heimer Dobson. He married Bernice Rasa and she preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 2007.

George was raised in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II with the Navy Sea Bees. Most of his tour was spent on Guam. George came to Nevada in 1951. He worked for the MKT Railroad for nine years. George retired from the Missouri Department of Revenue after 30-plus years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Nevada Elks Lodge No. 564.

Survivors include one son, Lawrence E. Dobson and his wife, Jean, New Roads, La.; six grandchildren, Jeff Dobson, Holloway, La., Susie Ingram and her husband, Darion, Libuse, La., Christy Eaves and her husband, Scott, Bentress, La., Luke Ducote, Bentess, La., Andy Remington and his wife, Donetta, Nevada, and J.J. Curtis and his wife, Betsy, Nevada; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jo Dobson, Kansas City, Mo., and Helen Handley, Pueblo, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Bernice, in 2007; one daughter, Linda Curtis; and one grandson, Jeremy Ducote.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nevada with the Rev. Tom Albers, celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home. Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at the funeral home with visitation following until 8 p.m.
